MANAGEMENT OF THE
PROJECT
The role and
responsibility of the individual members of the
consortium in the operation of the project will
be:
Bochum
University of Applied Sciences (BUoAS) will be
consortium leader and project manager for the EU
partners. BUoAS will be responsible to
organise, and along with Silesian University, to
provide the initial direction and guidelines for
the Training of Trainers programme, and the
subject specific development of the new
integrative philosophy inherent in
mechatronics. BUoAS will also have the
responsibility of organising the writing and
editing of the planned course book, to be
available for all students no later than 2 years
after the start of the project. The final
decision on any activity, the acceptability of
any report or receipt and the finalisation of
any quality control and monitoring activity
rests with BUoAS.
The SEKEM
Development Foundation (SDF) will provide
overall executive management as project
co-ordinator. Within Egypt, SDF will organise
the curriculum development, oversee ECTS
adherence within the higher educational
establishment, and host meetings with Egyptian
consortium members. Externally, SDF will
co-ordinate relations between academic and
industrial sectors, and encourage additional
links between the EU and Egyptian institutions,
as well as all dissemination and sustainability
related activities .
The
Higher Technological Institute (HTI) and Zagazig
University (ZU) will assume a leading position
in the project, and actively drive the
development and implementation of the new
courses and teaching techniques that will be
presented in the Training of Trainers programme.
The HTI will contribute through its experience
in mechatronics teaching in Egypt and its
existing links with industry. ZU will
contribute its experience with the
implementation of E-Learning and inter-TEMPUS
project coaching from JEP 31007-2003. Both
institutions will also co-operate in the writing
and submission of parts of the planned course
book. The coordination and implementation of the
projects within the institutions is the
responsibility of the contact person. The final
decision on any activity by either institution
rests with the Dean (or if necessary the
president) of the institution, who’s
responsibility it is to secure the appropriate
approvals within and outside the organisation.
Silesian
University of Technology (SUT) will have initial
joint responsibility in assisting the Training
of Trainers programme with BUoAS, through their
Centre for Education in Mechatronics (part of
the UNESCO International Centre for Engineering
Education). It will also provide expertise on
educational reform and curriculum development.
London
South Bank University (LSBU) will be responsible
for advising on the structures necessary for
successful co-operation with industry, and the
implementation of transfer partnership schemes
and joint degrees. The LSBU will also be
producing e-learning material, and transferring
core areas of the course book into web-based
E-Learning.
Mechatronik e.V. will provide insight into, and
advice on, the structure of a modern curriculum,
and the technical details of the implementation
of ECTS. Mechatronik e.V. will assist BUoAS in
developing the concept and outline of the course
book.
E-ON
Ruhrgas will provide feedback on current
industry demands and needs. Most importantly,
they will be responsible for providing a limited
number of work placements for Egyptian students,
as part of the implementation of the planned
curriculum with strong industrial links.
