Is a leading power
and gas provision based in Germany. They provide
reliable power and gas for around 40 million
people in 20 different countries. They will be a
powerful market-orientated industrial partner,
prepared to invest in innovation, and research
and development, and interested in the
application of integrated engineering skills eg.
Mechatronics.
Ruhrgas,
a subsidiary of E.ON, is a leading gas company
in Germany, whose principal business is the
supply, transmission, storage and sale of
natural gas.
Ruhrgas
operates in Germany and seven other European
countries and sells approximately 600 billion
kWh of gas each year (50 billion cubic metres).
It
employes a large number of engineers to import
gas from Russia, Norway, the Netherlands, the UK
and Denmark, and also purchases gas from
domestic sources. Ruhrgas sells this gas to
regional and supraregional distributors,
municipal utilities and industrial customers in
Germany and also exports gas to customers in
other European countries. It is engaged in gas
transmission within Germany via a network of
approximately 11,000 kilometres of gas
pipelines, and operates a number of underground
gas storage facilities and gas compressor
stations in Germany. Many of the facilities are
remotely managed, hence the equipment
necessitates the integration of mechanical,
electro- and IT-engineering. Ruhrgas holds
several stakes in German and other European gas
transportation and distribution companies, as
well as a small shareholding in OAO Gazprom, a
natural gas exploration, production,
transportation and marketing company. The
project team consists of Prof. Christian
Beckervordersandforth, Prof. Klaus Steinmann and
Dr. Hans Schillo. |
